1. About this policy
This Cookie Policy explains how the Asian Athletics ("AA", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on this website. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.
2. Who we are
The Asian Athletics is the continental governing body for athletics in Asia and is the controller of the personal data described in this policy.

3. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device. Cookies let a site remember your actions and preferences over time, and can help the site's owner understand how it is used.
This policy also covers similar technologies that store or read information on your device, including local storage and session storage. Where we say "cookies", we mean all of these.
4. Your choices
When you first visit our website you will see a cookie banner. You can Accept all cookies, Reject all non-essential cookies, or Manage preferences and choose category by category.
Rejecting non-essential cookies will not stop you using the website. Every part of the site — results, records, news, galleries and federation information — remains fully available.
You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and takes effect immediately.
We do not treat closing the banner, scrolling or continuing to browse as consent. If you have not made a choice, we set only strictly necessary cookies. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to reject non-essential cookies.
5. The cookies we use
5.1 Strictly necessary cookies — required for the website to work and cannot be switched off. We do not use these for analytics.
| Cookie | Provider | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
asian-athletics-session | AA | 2 hours | Maintains your session as you move between pages |
XSRF-TOKEN | AA | 2 hours | Protects forms against cross-site request forgery |
aaa_consent | AA | 6 months | Stores your cookie choices so we can honour them |
__cf_bm | Cloudflare | 30 minutes | Distinguishes human visitors from automated traffic |
_cfuvid | Cloudflare | Session | Applies rate limits to protect the site |
cf_clearance | Cloudflare | 30 minutes | Records that a security check was passed |
5.2 Analytics cookies — consent required.
We do not currently use any analytics service on this website, so no analytics cookies are set. If we introduce one in future, it will be added to this table and you will be asked for consent before it is switched on.
5.3 Embedded media cookies — consent required.
Parts of our website embed video hosted by YouTube, a Google service. If you consent, YouTube may set the following cookies when a video loads or plays. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and do not load the video player at all until you consent — a still image is shown instead.
| Cookie | Provider | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE | YouTube | 6 months | Estimates your bandwidth and selects the player interface |
VISITOR_PRIVACY_METADATA | YouTube | 6 months | Stores your consent state |
YSC | YouTube | Session | Records views of embedded videos |
__Secure-YEC | YouTube | 13 months | Player preferences and abuse detection |
PREF | Up to 2 years | Player preferences such as playback quality | |
CONSENT | 2 years | Google's own consent state |
These cookies are set by Google, not by us, and are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
5.4 Advertising cookies
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not sell or share your browsing data, and we do not build advertising profiles. If this ever changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before setting any such cookie.
5.5 Other storage
| Item | Type | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
aaa_consent_v | Local storage | Records which version of this policy you consented to |
Our web servers also keep standard access logs containing your IP address, browser type, the pages you requested and the time of the request. These are used only for security and troubleshooting, and we aim to retain them for no longer than 90 days.
6. Our legal basis
For strictly necessary cookies we rely on our legitimate interest in providing a secure, working website. For all other cookies we rely on your consent, which you give through the cookie banner and can withdraw at any time.
7. International transfers
Where you consent to embedded media cookies, YouTube and Google may process data outside your country, including in the United States, under safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Further detail is in our Privacy Policy.
8. Managing cookies in your browser
Alongside our cookie settings, you can control cookies in your browser. Most browsers let you see what is stored, delete cookies individually or entirely, and block cookies from particular sites or all sites. Blocking all cookies may stop parts of this and other websites working.
9. Children
Our website carries news and photography from our youth competitions, and we know that young athletes and their families visit it. We do not knowingly use cookies to build profiles of children, and we do not enable demographic or interest-based reporting.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our website changes or as the law develops. Any change will be published on this page with a new effective date. If we make a material change — such as introducing a new category of cookie — we will ask for your consent again.
11. Contact and complaints
Questions about this policy, or requests relating to your data, can be sent to sec@asianathletics.com or to the postal address in section 2.
If you are in Thailand, you may complain to the Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC). If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may complain to your national data protection authority.
