The 6th Asian U18 Athletics Championships are set to take center stage from April 15 to 18, 2025, in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. As one of the most prestigious junior athletics competitions on the continent, this event will bring together the brightest young talents from across Asia to compete for continental glory and set the tone for their future in international athletics.
Organized by the Asian Athletics in collaboration with the Saudi Arabian Athletics Federation, the championships will span four days and feature a full slate of track and field events. For many of these athletes, aged under 18, this is not only a chance to test themselves against regional peers but also a critical stepping stone toward elite senior competition, including the Asian Games and the Olympics.
The significance of this event for Saudi Arabia extends well beyond athletics. Hosting the championships is part of the Kingdom’s broader vision to become a hub for international sports and youth development, aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. The nation has invested heavily in sporting infrastructure and talent development in recent years, and this event provides a global platform to showcase those efforts. Dammam, the host city, was selected following a successful site inspection by Asian Athletics officials in October 2024, where they praised the modern competition venues, high-quality training facilities, and world-class hospitality.
The 2023 edition of the championships, held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, saw dominant performances from People’s Republic of China, who finished with 24 medals, including 15 golds. Among the standout athletes was Rezoana Mallick Heena from India, who broke the girls’ 400m championship record with a blistering time of 52.98 seconds—surpassing a mark previously held by world champion Salwa Eid Naser of Bahrain.
As the competition draws near, all eyes will be on the next generation of stars, who will be aiming to etch their names into the record books and possibly follow in the footsteps of Asian greats. For fans, coaches, and scouts alike, Dammam will be the place to witness emerging talent and the spirit of sportsmanship that defines youth athletics.
With the promise of fierce competition and record-breaking performances, the 6th Asian U18 Athletics Championships will not only spotlight the future of Asian athletics but also reaffirm Saudi Arabia's growing role on the international sports stage.
