Xiamen, China | 2 to 3 June 2026

Asian Athletics (AA) conducted a two day site visit to Xiamen, China, host city of the 27th Asian Athletics Championships 2027 from 2 to 3 June 2026.

The Asian Athletics delegation was led by President Gen. Dahlan Al Hamad and included Secretary General A. Shuggumarran and Competition Director C.K. Valson.

The extensive inspection programme focused on reviewing all major operational areas related to the Championships. The delegation visited the proposed athlete accommodation facilities and team hotels, inspected training venues, catering arrangements, transportation plans and medical services.

The delegation also reviewed and confirmed the proposed layouts and operational plans for the road races , including course routes, start and finish areas, athlete services and logistical arrangements.

AA delegation was accompanied by Ms. Wang Nan, Vice President of the Chinese Athletics Association ( CAA ) and Vice President of Asian Athletics, together with officials and staff from the CAA.

The site visit and coordination meetings were attended by Mr. Ruan Dunliang, Director General of the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Sports, Ms. Chen Lan, Deputy Director General and representatives from the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Sports.

Speaking at the conclusion of the visit, Asian Athletics President Gen. Dahlan Al Hamad expressed his satisfaction with the progress made by the organisers.

"We are very pleased with the preparations that have been made so far and the excellent cooperation shown by all partners involved. Xiamen possesses outstanding sports infrastructure and a world class stadium that will provide a fitting stage for Asia's best athletes. We are confident that the 27th Asian Athletics Championships 2027 will be organised to the highest international standards and will leave a lasting legacy for athletics in the region."

The 27th Asian Athletics Championships 2027 will bring together the continent's leading athletes in Xiamen, where they will compete for continental honours in one of Asia's premier sporting events. The event will be held in May 2027 .
