
Asian Athletics holds Council Meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam
Hanoi, Vietnam. The Asian Athletics Council held its 105th Council Meeting on 24 November 2025 in the beautiful city of Hanoi. The Council gathered to review the work accomplished during the year, assess reports from the 2025 Asian athletics events, and receive progress updates on the major competitions scheduled for 2026.
During the meeting, New Clark City in the Philippines was awarded the hosting rights for the 7th Asian U18 Athletics Championships in 2027.The Council also confirmed the introduction of a new event, the 1st Asian U23 Athletics Championships which will be held from 9 to 12 July 2026 in Erdos, China and the 1st Asian Jump Championships which will held in Chongqing, China
On the sidelines of the meeting, the President of Asian Athletics, Gen. Dahlan Al Hamad, met with His Excellency Nguyen Danh Hoang Chairman of the Sports Authority of Vietnam, to discuss cooperation and future opportunities to strengthen athletics in the region.
In his remarks, Gen. Dahlan expressed his satisfaction with the successful meeting in Vietnam and the decisions taken by the Council. He also extended his sincere appreciation to the Vietnam Athletics Federation for their warm hospitality and excellent arrangements in hosting the Council meeting.
