Aruna Darshana of Srilanka shine on day two of 18th Asian Junior Athletics Championship at Gifu

Gifu, 08 June: Aruna Dharshana of Sri Lanka smashed 19 years old Asian Junior championship record in the men’s 400m with a performance of 45.79s on day two of the 18th Asian Junior Athletics Championship at Nagaragawa Stadium Gifu. Teammate Pasindu Kodikara followed Aruna with Silver medal finish in 46.96s while Syuji Mori of Japan grabbed bronze medal in 47.08s.

In the women’s 400m final, India’s Jisna Mathew won Gold medal with a new personal best performance of 53.26s. Dilshi Kumarasinghe of Sri Lanka won silver medal with a timing of 54.03s. Chinese Taipei’s Jui-Hsuan Yang settled on the bronze medal with 54.74s. 

Lalu Muhammad Zohri of Indonesia emerged fastest Junior Asian by winning men’s 100m final with a performance of 10.27s, narrowly missing out on the championship record by 0.01s. Miyamoto Daisuke of Japan won silver medal in 10.35s. ISMAIL Muhammad Zulfiqar of Malaysia took bronze in 10.46s 

In the women’s 100m, Feng lulu of China emerged fastest Junior Asian Women with a timing of 11.68s. Amasha De Silva of Sri Lanka won silver medal in 11.71s while Mei Kodama of Japan finished on the third place in 11.98s.

Chinese Taipei athletes won Gold and Silver medal in the men’s decathlon Wang Chen-Yu scores 7200 points to win gold and Yu- Shiang Wang scored 6704 points for silver. Japan’s Rin Haraguchi took bronze medal

In the men’s long jump Yugo Sakai of Japan won Gold medal with a jump of 7.61m. China’s Keqi Zhou settled on silver medal with 7.54m and bronze medal went to India’s Sreeshankar Murali who jumped to 7.47m 

Erbil based Maryam Abdulhameed of Iraq won women high jump gold medal with a height of 1.80m. Ching-jung Tsai of Chinese Taipei claimed silver medal with 1.78m while India’s Abhinaya Shetty took bronze with 1.75m.

IBRAHIM Moaaz Mohamed S M of Qatar won Gold medal in the men’s Shot Put with a throw of 18.57m. South Korean Jinseong Yeo won silver medal with 18.25m while India’s Ashish Bhalothia of India won bronze in 18.22m 

Suo Lang Cairn of China won Gold medal in the men’s 10000m with a performance of 30:01.51s. Yuhi Nakaya of Japan won silver medal in 30:04.24s while India’s Kartik Kumar took bronze in 30:05.30s

SAIFELDIN, M K A Saife of Qatar won Gold medal in the men’s 1500m clocking 3:49.30s. Reito Hanzawa of Japan won silver medal in 3:49.66s. Iraq’s Hussein Haitham Lafta finished on the third place with 3:49.75s

Ririka Hironaka of Japan won women 1500m gold medal with a performance of 4:17.62s. Tomomi Takamatsu also from Japan took silver medal in 4:21.65s while India’s Durga Deore settled on the bronze medal clocking 4:24.56s

Earlier in the morning session, Hui-Jun Li of Chinese Taipei won Gold medal in the women javelin throw with a performance of 55.36m. Sae Takemoto of Japan who was leading until last round won Silver medal with a throw of 54.16m. Qiangian Dai of China finished on the bronze medal position with a best throw of 53.29m.

Hao Gong of China won 10000m walk Gold medal with a performance of 42:47.98s. Sho Sakazaki of Japan picked up the pace in the final lap but wasn’t enough to hold on Gong and eventually Sho settled on the silver medal with 42:53.56s. Korean Mingyu Kim took bronze medal in 43:06.89s

China extend lead in the medal tally with a total of 6 gold medal after day two of the 18th Asian Junior Athletics Championship.
