22nd December 2017 , Dhaka : Gen. Dahlan Al Hamad declared open The 41st National Athletics Championships of Bangladesh 2017 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Top 400 athletes from 64 districts, eight divisions, universities, educational boards, services teams and BKSP are competing in 36 Events – 22 for men and 14 for women in the three-day event. AAA president emphasised that he sees the Bangladesh athletics moving forward with dedication and determination.
Earlier during his visit Gen. Dahlan attended a welcome banquet in his honor given by Bangladesh Athletic Federation President Mr. A.S. M Ali Kabir.
He also met the Hon’ble State Minister for Youth & Sports, Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh Dr. Biren Sikder and discussed the development plans for Bangladesh athletics.
AAA President also met with The Bangladesh Olympic Association president and Army Chief General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq and deputy sports minister Arif Khan Joy.
Gen. Dahlan lauded the efforts and hard work of Advocate Abdur Rokib ( Montu ) Gen. Secretary of Bangladesh Athletics Federation in the development of Atheltics in Bangladesh .
