24th Asian AA Congress – 8th November 2021 via online

24th Asian AA Congress was held successfully on 8th November 2021. Forty Four (44) Asian Member federations took part in the Congress. The main highlights of the meeting are;

  • President General Dahlan welcomed all delegates present for the online 24th Congress of the Asian Athletics Association.
  • A minute of silence was observed for all the former honorable members who had recently passed away.
  • The online contribution of the Asian development department was appreciated who continuously provided online Activities during the Pandemic.
  • The house was informed that the Kids Athletics program and the gender leadership program will be offered many times during 2022.
  • By the year 2027 women will constitute 50% representation on all administrative and organizational forums, councils, committees and commissions of WA and all its affiliates, hence it is time that we train our women representatives to take-up these future responsibilities in an educated manner.
  • Congress approved the establishment of an Executive Board, a body that will facilitate the decision-making process in between the Asian Council Meetings.
  • Lord Sebastian Coe stated that the recent jaw-dropping Athletic performances by WA athletes at the Tokyo Olympics have cemented our position as the Number 1 Olympic sport in the World.
  • The WA president applauded the efforts of the Japan Olympics Association who organized very successful Olympic games in the midst of a Pandemic.
  • The Tokyo Olympics medal winning athletes from Asia were congratulated by the members of the Asian Congress.
  • All proposed amendments to the AAA constitution and a code of ethics were approved by the house with a majority vote.
