Hossein Rasouli of Iran set new championship record on Day three of Asian Juniors

Gifu, 10 June: After heavy downpour of rain on Friday evening, Gifu was clear and warm on Saturday. Making most of these conditions, Hossein Raouli of Iran set new Asian Junior Championship record in the men’s discus throw with a throw of 62.29m. Defending champion and championship record holder and World Junior champion Ibrahim Moaaz Mohammed of Qatar finished on the second place with a throw of 61.50m. Kosei Yamashita of Japan took bronze.

Yuiri YOSHIDA of Japan came close to beating 28 years old championship record when she emerged victorious in the women’s 100m hurdles with a championship record equalling performance of 13.45s. Yuwei Lin of China secured silver medal in 13.55s while Hsiao-Hui Lin of Chinese Taipei finished on the bronze medal position with 13.61s. 

Anu Kumar of India emerged Asian Junior champion in the men 800m with a timing of 1:54.11s beating Iran’s Abdolrahim Dorzadeh (1:54.23s) in close finish. Fuki Torii of Japan was third with a timing of 1:54.55s 

Ayaka Kawata of Japan won women 800m Gold medal with a performance of  2:04.14s while her teammate Ayano Shiomi clocked 2:04.50s for silver  medal and Bronze medal went to Dilshi Kumarsinghe of Sri Lanka with  2:04.53s .

Huanhuan Yang of China won Gold medal in the women discus throw final with a throw o 51.53m while her teammate Yuanyuan Yin secured silver medal with 51.17m and India’s Arpandeep Kaur Bajwa took bronze medal in 46.57m.

Ayaka Kora of Japan and Jiawei Zhong of China were locked in the most thrilling women long jump final when both cleared 6.44m in their 5th attempt to tie. Kora, riding on home support leapt 1cm more than Jiawei in the final jump to break tie and Gold medal.

Zuocheng Wu of China won women’s pole vault gold medal with a height of 4.00m. Anastasya Ermakova of Kazakhstan finished on the second place clearing 3.60m height. Chia-Ju Wu of Chinese Taipei took bronze in 3.60m .

M K A Saife SAIFELDIN of Qatar won his second Gold medal of the championship with a win in the men’s 3000m steeplechase with a performance of 8:51.79s. Takumi Yoshida of Japan secured silver medal in 8:52.79s. Trung Cuong Nguyen of Vietnam won bronze medal.

Maristela PARAMI WASANTHI of Sri Lanka won 3000m steeplechase final Gold medal with a performance of 10:21.54s. Wanhua Tian of China could not respond to Maristela’s surge in the last lap and had to settle on the second place in 10:28.24s. Yuka Nouse of Japan was 3rd 10:38.30s.

Hao-Hua Lu of Chinese Taipei won men’s 110m Hurdles Gold medal with a performance of 13.61s. Rikuto Higuchi (13.71s) of Japan and David Yefremov (13.81s) of Kazakhstan finished on the second and third place respectively.

China wins women 4x100m relay gold medal with a timing of 45.06s. Host  Japan finished on the second place and Hong Kong China grabbed Bronze medal.

Japan (TAKAGI, Yuki, MIYAMOTO, Daisuke, FUKUSHIMA, Satoru, TSUKAMOTO,  Jasuteinjunoei) won Gold medal in the men’s 4x100m relay with a  performance of 39.63s beating Chinese Taipei (39.72s) and Indian team  (40.75s). Team China and Malysia were Disqualified.

Zhekai Liu, World Youth champion from China won Gold medal in the men’s javelin throw with a throw of 70.53m. 

At the end of the day three China has maintained strong lead in the medal tally with 9 Gold medals followed by 7 Gold medals by host Japan.
